D.R.U.M. Program

The D.R.U.M. Program (Diversity, Respect, Unity, Music) is one of the most visible and successful programs at the Boys & Girls Club of Dane County. The program was founded in 2008 at the Allied Family Center by CAPA director Joey B. Banks. The D.R.U.M. Program is made up of three groups. Junior drum line (ages 7–10), senior drum line (ages 11–14) and the performing group, Black Star Drum Line. The junior and senior drum lines are a developmental program that teaches rudiments, technique in the drum corps style of drumming and basic rhythm notation for boys and girls Club members. Once a year the members of both drum lines get an opportunity to try out for a spot in the Black Star Drum Line. The program also teaches members about diversity, respect for self and others and teamwork.
