The club offers an array of programs for boys and girls ages 7 to 18. Our programs enable youth to reach their full potential as productive, responsible and caring adults. If you are interested in learning more about our club programs, please contact the Taft Street Site at 608-257-2606 or the Allied Family Center at 608-204-9722.
Programs include:
College Club
The College Club program’s vision is to inspire and prepare members in grades 1 to 8 for their educational future. The curriculum focuses on topics like goal setting, college entry, financial aid, career development and life skills. Case managers work with each student to set academic and personal goals. Case management also provides the opportunity to connect College Club members’ families to community resources in the hopes of removing any social and/or economic barriers interfering with students’ education. College Club members are rewarded for their active participation and progress through prizes, field trips and service-learning projects.
STAR (Saving to Achieve Results) Credit Union
The only youth-chartered credit union in the world! Any Club member can join for as little as a quarter. It is STAR’s mission to instill financial literacy and responsibility in our members by providing access to financial services and the opportunity to participate in the development and operation of the credit union. Members learn the importance of savings, earn great incentives and participate in programs like “Teller of the Day” and the Marketing Committee. Homework/Tutoring
Homework time is scheduled into our after-school programming. Club members have the opportunity to work with certified teachers, volunteers and club staff to get their homework assignments completed.
SMART Girls
SMART Girls is a small-group health, fitness, prevention/education and self-esteem enhancement program designed to meet the developmental needs of girls ages 8–12 and 13–17. Through dynamic sessions, highly participatory activities, field trips and mentoring opportunities with adult women, SMART Girls explores attitudes and values. This exploration builds skills for eating right, staying physically fit, getting good health care, and developing positive relationships with peers and adults.
