Building Great Futures

The new McKenzie Regional Workforce Center will be located at 5225 Verona Road in the former Thermo Fisher Scientific building in Fitchburg, WI. Local developer and longtime supporter John McKenzie bought the building and donated it to the Boys and Girls Clubs of Dane County. The Center will be an active partnership between Madison Area Builders Association (MABA) and the Club plus other local businesses and schools.

The highlight of the Center is a skilled trades curriculum, focused on providing young adults careers in skilled trades like plumbing and construction. This will create generational change within families and help diversify what historically has been a largely white, male workforce.

Skilled trades programming is expected to begin in 2022 after the building undergoes renovations. Education, training, certification, apprenticeships, and job placement will be available to young adults in high school. Younger students will have the opportunity to explore career options and learn life skills.
